DATEBACK

DATEBACK is a small utility I found a need for after
I overwrote some Source code with a very much older copy. I
was lucky enough to have had a recent print out available.
DATEBACK was created for use in batch files to copy
newly saved files to another name, avoiding inadvertant data
loss and headaches. To use DATEBACK, copy the executable
file to a directory in your PATH (I use `UTILS`). Then
change to the directory where the file resides.
The correct SYNTAX is as follows:
DATEBACK { filename } [ extension ]
Where { filename } is the full filename and extension of the
file to be renamed, and [ extension ] is an optional three
extension to be added to the new file.
DATEBACK then parses the month, day, hour, and second, creating
the new filename and adding an extension if available. I use
DATEBACK in a batch file that runs QB45. When I exit the program
I copy the latest version of whatever file I am working on to a
floppy drive. DATEBACK then renames the file and adds the three
letter extension I chose for that project.
Example:
dateback dateback.bas dbk
Produces the file name: 08300914.dbk
Where 08 is the month, 30 is the day, 09 is the hour and 14 is the
minute.
This file is Shareware, but no registration or payment is needed
for it's use. If you like it, Use it. If you don't, well you
know where the bit-bucket is.
